QUESTIONS

Dermal fillers are substances that have been developed and tested for injections into certain areas of skin and tissues for the purpose of cosmetic improvement. They are compatible with the body and can be classified as temporary. The compound is called hyaluronic acid and mimics the same compound in our body. They are used to uplift the mid face, cheek augmentation, lips augmentation, improve the shape of the nose, etc.

The procedure takes a short time but if you are having several areas treated, you will require a longer consultation. This is assesed on an individual basis and results are dependent on the area treated. Fillers generally last from 6 to 9 months. A thicker form of filler can last up to 18 months.

We apply numbing cream (lidocaine) to areas to help minimise pain. Some areas might be more sensitive than others but you will not experience any unbearable/severe pain. You may experience minimal discomfort. Most clients find the sensation odd but quick and less painful than expected.

Yes- we can reverse any Hyaluronic acid based filler with an enzyme called hyalase. This takes 24-48 hours to take effect. The filler is dissolved and area returns to its original state.

There has been increased concern regarding the safety of aesthetic procedures.Dermal fillers are safe in safe hands. It is important to consider a well trained practitioner, clean environment, use of quality fillers and use of advanced techniques to reduce any risk of injection into blood vessels.

Some people can have a reaction to fillers but this is extremely rare. Common minor side effects include bruising , redness and swelling which settle within a few days.

In Aesthetic use it depends on the strenght of your muscles and the size of the muscle treated. The stronger and larger the muscle is, the more quickly it will overcome the effect of the botox. The maximum effect of muscle relaxion is about 2 months but effects will continue to be apparent for a period of 3 to 5 months before muscle strength returns.

It was first discovered when it was produced by bacteria that grew in food that was not well preserved.Since then it has been purified and has a wide range of use in the medical field. The dose used in cosmetic procedures is minute and has no effect on the rest of the body.

The procedure is very quick (around 15 minutes) with minimal pain and no downtime. The results typically start to kick in after 3-5 days with the full results at 14 days.

Your expression lines will return gradually. If you choose to mantain the effect with muscle relaxants you will require repeat injections 2 to 3 times per year.
